ELGIN COUNTY COURTHOUSE
The new Courthouse complex consolidated the existing Wellington Street courthouse (Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice). The project involved the renovation and restoration of the existing 30,000 SF courthouse and 135,000 square feet of new build, which included a three-storey addition, eight new courtrooms, office space and one level of underground parking for judiciary officials.
Lighting design for the project involved the retrofit of existing fixtures, as well as the design of new fixtures that aligned with the building’s period luminaires. Lighting calculations and mock-ups were provided to address user needs. A large quantity of room types with many different fixture styles/lamps were addressed to provide to energy efficient solutions throughout.
