MBL is a team of dedicated, creative professionals with diverse industry experience: architecture, interior design, theatre and film production all inspire the team’s design philosophy and approach.

MBL’s core team of seasoned lighting designers leads the charge on a full range of project types and scales, collaborating if required with an in-house electrical/ electronic engineering team of over 80 people strong.

 

Paul Boken

Well recognized in the industry for his award-winning lighting designs, Paul is MBL’s Vice President and lighting design lead. A wide range of landmark projects have shaped his career; Niagara Falls Illumination Project, Ripley’s Aquarium, Toronto, the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, Winnipeg and the Prince Edward Viaduct ...

Well recognized in the industry for his award-winning lighting designs, Paul is MBL’s Vice President and lighting design lead. A wide range of landmark projects have shaped his career; Niagara Falls Illumination Project, Ripley’s Aquarium, Toronto, the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, Winnipeg and the Prince Edward Viaduct Illumination project. Paul is an active member of the industry with a keen interest in educating young designers; he teaches and lectures regularly, both locally and internationally.

Stephen Kaye

Now Vice President of MBL, Stephen launched his career in the arts and architecture, gravitating quickly towards lighting design. Stephen has worked on notable projects including the Deloitte Tower, Montreal, Mattamy Athletic Centre, Toronto, University of Toronto’s Daniels Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Design, Women...

Now Vice President of MBL, Stephen launched his career in the arts and architecture, gravitating quickly towards lighting design. Stephen has worked on notable projects including the Deloitte Tower, Montreal, Mattamy Athletic Centre, Toronto, University of Toronto’s Daniels Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Design, Women’s College Hospital Redevelopment, Delta Hotel, Toronto and the Queen Richmond Centre West, Toronto. A seasoned project manager, Stephen’s combined studio arts and design education bring depth and drama to his approach to lighting.

Alan McIntosh

B.A., IALD, MIES, Associate

Alan is a master of large scale and logistically complex lighting installations.
